Jay Park And DOK2 To Appear On Kim Hyun Joong’s New Album ‘Round 3′

티브이데일리 포토

Kim Hyun Joong’s agency Key East revealed last week that the singer’s “ third mini album Round 3 will be supported by Park Jae Bum and DOK2.”

One of the songs, “Unbreakable,” consists of a tough and strong modern sound, as well as the incorporation of traditional Korean elements. Another, called “Your Story,” features Park Jae Bum and rapper DOK2 adding a nice contrast to Kim Hyun Joong’s rich and appealing vocals.

There is a rumor saying that DOK2 actively participated in composing “Your Story,” by making various suggestions — for matching lyrics starting with the concept, and also, allowing Kim Hyun Joong’s voice to stand out with the incorporation of romantically emotional lyrics.

It’s been a busy year for Kim Hyun Joong, as he is also currently appearing on Barefoot Friends.

HyunA & Taeyang voted as the next Lee Hyori & Rain

Today’s hottest idol stars were asked who they thought would be best qualified to be the next Lee Hyori and Rain, two very iconic personalities in Hallyu.

Although there were a wide variety of opinions, 4minute‘s HyunA and Big Bang‘s Taeyang came out on top of the ranking.

Runner-ups included B2ST‘s Lee Kikwang, Jay Park, SNSD‘s Yuri, and G.NA.

This poll was especially interesting as members of Infinite, MBLAQ, U-KISS and B1A4 all actively voted for HyunA as the next Lee Hyori…

The Rooftop Prince OST Rocks!

by Sara A. Layne:

My current k-drama obsession is Rooftop Prince. I waited until the eight episodes were out before I started watching because I wanted to be able to do a marathon. I haven’t been this drawn into a drama since History of A Salaryman (and yes I realize that wasn’t that long ago). One of the main reasons why I like this drama so much is because of the music. Rooftop Prince has one of the best OST’s I have heard in a while. The title song, Happy Ending by Jay Park, is so upbeat and happy that I can’t help but smile every time I hear it.

Whenever there is an upbeat scene or when they decide to take one of their many pictures, you can beat on Happy Ending making an appearance. But just as every happy scene has me looking forward to hearing Jay Park’s voice, every sad or dramatic scene has me bracing myself for Ali’s Hurt. Be prepared to cry (or at least choke up) because Ali’s haunting voice combined with the drama unfolding on screen can cause almost cause you physical pain.

Rooftop Prince also scored a homerun with Baek Ji Young’s (who I like to call OST royalty) After A Long Time. When the characters start reflecting on the past is one of the times you hear this song or when they suddenly forget how to cross the street (watch a few episodes to understand what I mean). There are only a few episodes left and at this point, the music is almost as important as the story line. If you haven’t watched this drama yet, I urge you (PLEASE) watch it! I promise you won’t be disappointed. Let me know what you think of the drama and the rest of the OST in the comments ^_^

2012: A look at Kpop in Malaysia

Happy 2013! We hope you had a blast ushering in the New Year.

Before we move on and never look back, I would like to invite you to take a quick look at 2012 to see what it offered all of us k-popped folks.

Well, one thing’s for sure. Kpop fans in Malaysia had nothing to complain about in 2012. The continuous flow of Korean artistes coming to our shores was overwhelming. Below is a list of Korean-related events that were held in Malaysia last year.

Jan 14 – F.T. Island concert (below) and Bang & ZELO showcase. Yup, both on the same day! What a way to kick things off in 2012!

Photobucket

Feb 11 – Universal K-pop Crazy Party at Wisma Bentley. Were you guys sexcited when Jay Park called in?

Mar 23 – SNSD at Petronas Twin Towers. What a treat for the F1 weekend! Fans went crazy when we heard about the special appearance by the girls.

Apr 12 – 15 – Red Soul‘s series of events to promote their latest album Stay. Lovely voices, these guys.

May 12-13 – Jay Park (below) showcases in Kuala Lumpur & Sabah. We have an exclusive video interview with the laidback guy :)

Photobucket

May 25 & 26 – Hari Himpunan Jutaan Belia. An event that was spread over two days, we had U-KISS performing on May 25 and Dal Shalbet and Teen Top performing on May 26.

May 26 – Block B performs at the Grand Opening of Kenanga Wholesale City Mall.

May 27 – Jung Sungha mesmerizes fans with his guitar-god skills in Penang!

July 6 – B.A.P showcase. They rocked the house, we heard. Were you there? :P

July 14 – Jay Park (again!) & KARA were invited to perform at the MTV World Stage Live in Malaysia 2012. They shared the stage with Malaysia’s Mizz Nina and superstar Justin Bieber!

July 18 – Jo Kwon held a video conference. A few lucky fans were invited for the event.

Sept 30 – APINK & B1A4 Hi-5 Session at The Butter Factory. Yay!

Nov10: ZE:A Showcase in Malaysia. Songs, games and a birthday celebration. What’s not to love?

Nov 23 – VIXX (below) & NU’EST at the Shout Awards 2012.

Nov 24 – VIXX 1st fan meet in Malaysia

Photobucket

Dec 1 – 3rd Wave, Brian Joo & Alexander Eusebio perform in aid of Birthright.

Dec 1 – The Way of Love 2AM Concert in Malaysia

Dec 2 – Balladeer Tim Hwang meets his fans in Malaysia

Dec 11 – Asia Super Showcase & Kim Hyung Jun at the Malaysia Model Festival Awards.

Dec 15: NU’EST: The Face to Face in Malaysia

Phwoar…fans of K-entertainment were certainly kept occupied in 2012. Two events were cancelled, though. K-pop Storm Live in Malaysia boasted NINE k-pop acts on ONE stage. It was supposed to be held on Nov 6, but it was cancelled. 2NE1′s first concert in Malaysia scheduled for Dec 8 was also a no g0 :( .

We may have missed out a few events (with so many acts coming, it was a challenge to keep track of EVERY SINGLE ONE), but it’s OK. Acts that we’ve missed might just pop by again in 2013. We hear the coming year will be even busier than before.

Are you ready?

[News] 2PM-MBLAQ-Shinhwa All Line Up with 'Sexy,' Why?

[News] 2PM-MBLAQ-Shinhwa All Line Up with 'Sexy,' Why?

As the end of May nears and the temperature begins to creep up, clothes are starting to come off. Especially in K-pop, clothes are coming off fast.

Jay Park, who released "Welcome" back in April. was the first to welcome the approaching summer with his R-rated music video. Appearing shirtless and displaying his toned upper body, Jay Park got in his groove with actress Oh Cho Hee as controversy regarding the problem of adult content in K-pop mounted.

Interestingly, the baton of 'sexy' was relayed onto 2PM, Jay Park's former teammates. Coming back after a 3-year hiatus, 2PM is not holding anything back as they showed off their chiseled abs and bulky chests in their album covers.

VIXX, who debuted last year, released a seminude album cover on May 14. Immediately following their bold act was 7-men idol group, 100%, with another string of seminude photos.

The longest-lived idol group, Shinhwa, did not give an inch when it came to doing 'sexy.' Though they did not show any six-packs or bulging biceps, Shinhwa declared that they will show how sexy thirty-something year olds can be.

MBLAQ, set to come back early June, will be heading in the 'sexy' territory with emphasis on sensuality.

All in all, the recent trend of male artists toward 'sexy' seems to stem from the need to stand out from a crowd of similar groups that sing about the same things. The struggle to be unique will continue as competition keeps getting tougher and tougher.
